Run to Remember Sherry Arnold

Today was the Virtual Run for Sherry organized by Beth from SUAR, and a group of moms from our local running club agreed to dedicate their usual Saturday morning run to Sherry Arnold.
I saw the posting on Facebook and immediately invited myself, and they very graciously let me join them.

staying warm in my car until it was time to meet everyone

The weather was cold, but we gratefully missed the worst of it. It was lightly snowing when we finished our run. By this afternoon and evening we were enjoying freezing gale-force winds and snow squalls.

The group split in two based on pace with 6 mile and 8 mile options. I set out with the 10:30ish pace group and decided 6 miles was the best option for me.

It was a great run. I felt amazing and relaxed, but I also felt sadness for Sherry's loved ones and students. Loss is hard. Senseless loss is very hard, and I thought of them often during the run.

Frederick really is a pretty little town

The snow had picked up by the time we reached the turn off for the 6 vs 8 mile option, and we all agreed warmth and coffee would be perfect right about then so we headed for the coffee shop.

I haven't run with a group in ages. I also haven't run 6 miles in as long. It felt like welcoming an old friend over for coffee; I didn't realize how much I had missed it until I was in the midst of it again.

Many thanks to the Run Mama Run group for letting me crash your run. I hope I can join you  again because I seriously loved it.

About half the group; several had to leave right away so we missed getting their picture

And to Sherry's family I pray that God comforts you as only He can. I am so sorry for your loss.
