5!!!!

It's hard to believe my baby is 5 today. If you know him in real life, then you are probably amazed that he is actually still alive. If they had baby X-Games, he'd be in the thick of it.

It's not that he doesn't have any fears, because he does.... like loud noises - nevermind he's one of the loudest human beings I've ever encountered

He just runs headlong into life. If there is fun or excitement to be had, you can be sure Shane is in the middle of it. We have joked that his future wife will need to sign a waiver that she's aware of what she'd getting herself into and that we don't have a return policy.

He also has very definite ideas of how he thinks the world should work. And if he doesn't like your version of things, he doesn't hesitate to let you know. Of course as a kid, this doesn't always work favorably for him...actually it almost never does. BUT we recognize that great passion mixed with strong ideas is a good thing - as long as he uses his powers for good and not evil so we're working on that.

He also has an incredible sense of humor and the biggest, most infectious belly laugh. This kid is a riot.

And he has an impressive fashion sense...ok maybe not

He somehow manages to be one of the sweetest, most adorable and affectionate little pips I know. He is a walking enigma. One minute you want to squish his little self and smother him with kisses, and with the very next breath he'll do or say something that makes you want to throttle him. It's amazing (and frustrating) to behold. His pendulum swings in extremes - he's extremely happy or extrememly NOT, extremely funny or extremely crabby, extremely lively or dead asleep (in seconds, literally)

His cuteness enables him to get away with 'crimes' that would get other kids in big trouble... like eating blueberries out of other people's buckets.

When it's all said and done, this little stinker is a blessing to all who know him, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for my favorite 5 year old.

Happy Birthday, Stinky Toes!!

I realized as I was looking through pictures for this post that he is wearing the same green John Deere shirt over and over again...like almost every day. I do wash it. He just loves it. Apparently.

What a cutie! I love the furrowed face picture.
My son has a John Deere shirt he wears constantly, too!
