No Crabs at the Crab Feast

After my very fun 5K we headed home to shower and begin the next adventure...a crab feast on the Eastern Shore! Bill's dad is a Kiwanis and they do all sorts of fun things throughout the year- most of which involve yummy food so we're always happy to tag along. :) This was their annual summer picnic and was a chance to spend time together and just have fun so there were no crabby people at the crab feast. :)

Ella loves Aunt Honey and Aunt Cindy. I'm sure it's partly because they understand makeup, hair and fashion way better than mommy ever will - and they think she's the bees knees, too!  God always puts the right people in our lives!

Hank learning to pick crabs from the master - Grandpop

Mark and Hank playing football. The view of the river was just gorgeous!

Shane is still learning the delicate art of picking crabs. Here he's being not-so-delicate with his crab

Full tummies = happy folks

Thankfully we remembered the fishing rods because Hank is very into fishing lately. Bill was the designated lure attacher and fish getter offer

A crab the kids caught with their fish head bait.
Can you hear him saying, "Please don't eat me!" We didn't; we tossed him back so he could grow bigger and get eaten next year.

Nothing like having a 4 year slinging a pole with a hook attached around like a cowboy roping a steer. He had a great time fishing and even caught a couple of small perch

The little guy in red had no idea who he was dealing with. He was cute as could be trying to give Ella hints on how to fish. Finally she stopped and looked at him, "I *do* know what I'm doing."
We'll work on that meek and gentle spirit, but in the meantime, I was cracking up!

One of many perch Hank caught. He was on a roll!

Using the net to catch jelly fish. Didn't work so well because it was a metal net and the jelly fish would just slime through the openings.

Shane likes to sit in Ella's seat. Here he is doing what we all wanted to do (with a pretzel in his mouth...yes we took it out after the picture)

It was a great day! Up and out the door by 6:30 that morning and home by 10 so we were exhausted, but we got to see some of our favorite people.

Today is a rainy, lazy day and I see a nap coming this afternoon!

Sara, I'm sorry my little crab was creepy! I thought he was kinda cute. :)

But then I have 3 boys so I'm used to them bringing me all sorts of gross 'treasures.'

Sounds like a great day. Ella's comment was cracking me up. Sounds like it was just what that little boy needed to hear. There is plenty of time for gentle and meek...sounds like that little girl has some confidence! I like it!

I've given you an award. You can check it out here: http://chatterandclatter.blogspot.com/2010/08/ive-been-triple-awarded.html

Aw, Heidi, thanks so much for the award! I appreciate it!

And you're right, Ella has just a little bit of confidence. With 3 brothers though, it's definitely in her best interest to be willing to speak up for herself. :)
