Educational Opportunites That Aren't To Be Missed

As you know the kids are at VBS this week. Last night was their last class because tonight they put on a little program and then we eat a covered dish dinner (it's not a Baptist Church event if there's not a covered dish dinner!).

So Shane and I were lying in bed and he told me that his teacher said he wouldn't be in class tomorrow but that she would look for him at the dinner.

Then he rolled over and looked at me with a very serious face. "Is it ok to say 'Hi'?"

Me - Yes, saying Hi is a very nice thing to say to your friends.

Him- Can I talk about buns?

Me - No, buns are private. We don't talk about buns.

Him - How about underpants? Can I tell her about underpants?

Me - No, underpants are also private so we don't talk about them either.

Him - I will tell her about my ears and my nose. That ok?

Me - Yep, ears and noses are ok to talk about

Any moms who are struggling thinking their daily grind doesn't matter to the world, you are wrong.

Without us, the world would be full of people who don't know it's ok to say 'Hi' and would resort to talking about buns and underpants.

That's cute! Kids say the funniest things sometimes. It's good that he asked you first.

that's so funny. I wonder what he wanted to tell her about his underpants???

Molly, With Shane there's no telling!

He wears character undies so maybe he wanted to tell her about Bob the Builder or Blue's Clues??

Aw, that is so cute!

Do you mind if I ask what is a 'covered dish'?

Green Girl, Great question! Silly me assumed my readers are familiar with the idiosyncracies of the south. :)

A covered dish dinner is when everyone brings a dish to share with the group. Like a potluck dinner. It can be anything from a salad to baked beans and everything in between.

Ah, a potluck. Thank you so much for the clarification! ::smiles::
