I enjoyed the great privilege of hearing Debra Bell speak early in my homeschooling adventure. I still remember her candid, genuine, and very funny personality. You will find this book is an extension of that. It flows like a conversation at the kitchen table over a cup of tea.
This book is 500+ pages of very nearly everything you could ever want to know about homeschooling. The first section walks you through the decision to homeschool. Is it for you? What are your goals for homeschooling? How do you make time to homeschool? And more.
You've decided to homeschool? Excellent! She then discusses choosing curriculum and how to organize and plan your day.
What if you're a seasoned pro and experiencing burnout? Debra has been there, and she has wisdom to share with you to help you through.
She also covers the challenges of homeschooling ranging from adorable, but needy, infants to adorable, but needy, teenagers.
We're in our 7th year of homeschooling, and I really thought I'd blow through the book and not gain much from it. Oh, so very wrong. I found this book encouraging and inspiring. Debra is a wonderful encourager, and my vision for homeschooling was renewed. Best of all, Debra is an outspoken Christian and is faithful to remind us that our primary goal is to raise responsible citizens who love the Lord most of all.
