TOS Review MathScore

As part of the TOS Crew, we were given a two week subscription to MathScore. This program was developed by MIT graduates who wanted to create an adaptive math skills program that was challenging and fun.

MathScore can be used as a full curriculum, and it can save you a lot of time because it is paperless, instantly grades student work and provides appropriate solution explanations. The homeschool math teacher does not have to be an expert, but can oversee the learning method and supervise students with an effective curriculum for 2nd grade through Algebra I.

Or you can choose to use it as a supplement to your curriculum when you have your child log into MathScore and find a topic that matches the material you just taught. MathScore will generate an unlimited supply of math problems and adapt the difficulty based on performance. Once your child achieves a rating of 100, mastery has been achieved, and it is time to move onto the next concept.

I had Jake use MathScore, and when he started asking to do math every day, I took a closer look. ;) When your student begins the program he is assigned the ‘rank’ of Rookie. As he completes work sheets correctly, he earns points which in turn earn him promotions in rank.

Additionally, when your student completes all the worksheets within a topic, he earns an award. You can view your student’s awards, and as you scroll over each one, a list of the topics mastered by your student for that award appears. Pretty nifty.

As if those two things weren’t enough, you receive an email report each day, or however often you choose, of your student’s activities. It summarizes the topics covered, number of worksheets completed, overall accuracy, amount of time engaged, and idle time (with a note explaining that more is not a good thing).

We have definitely enjoyed our subscription and recommend you check out MathScore if you’re looking for a math curriculum or supplement for your homeschool.

*The monthly subscription rates are:
- 1st Child is $14.95
- 2nd Child is $5.00
- 3rd Child is $3.95

If you make a lump sum payment, it can reduce the price for the first child. You can also put your account on hold while you go on vacation or have a break in schooling and then reactivate it with no penalty.

Be sure to read more reviews by TOS Crew members.

*Much gratitude to Devildog Wife for her succinct explanation of the pricing structure. What I have above is a paraphrase of her summary.

**We received this product for free so that we could use it and offer our opinion of it. No other compensation was made.
