Crazy weather and a Cool night sky

[Insert 'Out of Order' disclaimer here]
You could start reading at the bottom of this post if you wanted. :)

My poor little camera couldn't take a good picture of what we saw tonight. Such a shame because it was super cool. And to top it all off, we're going to the Banneker Planetarium Wednesday morning.

Daddy called to tell us we needed to step on the deck and look to the left. There we saw a new moon with Venus and Jupiter just under it. It was so clear and so perfect. It was freezing cold so the kids didn't appreciate it as much. Below is an illustration I found on-line:

Above is the total accumulation on the back deck. Looks like snow but it's hail. No joke. Kinda freaky actually. And just an hour or so later the sun actually came out and it was in the upper 40's. Strange indeed.

We were minding our beeswax in the schoolroom when all of a sudden the wind kicked up. Then the skies opened and it was hailing...sideways. The hail stones were just bigger than BBs.
