Walk Like An Egyptian

The first couple of weeks of history cover ancient Egypt so you know we had to make mummies. I was hoping Bill would give the green light to really mummify a chicken or something, but he preferred we didn't (no sense of adventure sometimes!).

We also made throwing sticks which young boys would play with to practice killing birds to eat- sort of like toy guns for kids today.

Here's our dollar store Barbie-like doll and a GI Joe. If you look closely, you'll see she's wearing a running skirt. I am quite the arteest!

They put amulets between layers of linen so we did too

Hands on crafts are our favorite part of school!

How fun! Hopefully the kids got to try out the throwing sticks.

Oh definitely! We had a contest to see who could throw them into rings we drew, and now they just toss them around the yard at different trees.

I loved the Barbie/Ken mummies!

I have a question, though, since when does Ken have a goatee?

Green Girl, he's some sort of GI Joe character. I'm not sure which one though. Just a spare we had in the 'army man' bin of toys

Ah! Okay. I am feeling old and out of touch. When I used to play with GI Joe, he was an army green toy - I had no idea he had evolved into a Ken-like doll!
